I have been struggling for the past two weeks to create a question for my research paper. How convenient that the Bedford Book of Genres has a chapter titled “Exploring topics and creating a research proposal”. After reading this chapter I’m aware I need to do a little bit more research on my topic. Although, my topic seems to be very broad because I am unsure if I’m going to write more about dance studios or dancers themselves. I have talked to multiple people within the dance industry, as I have been involved with dance for about 15 years. This chapter discusses the importance of lists, and free writing. I love lists and have already started one, and free writes have helped in the past so I should consider free writing and using some of what I free write. Mind mapping is definitely an important factor to creating a research paper. If anyone is as scatter brained as I am, you know the struggle of writing a research paper, or any paper, on a single topic. Mind mapping allows you to see a main topic and all the subtopics to consider writing about.
